“Take a big step back and F--K YOURSELF in the face."

 Yesterday, I pontificated that “I support Musk and Ramaswamy in their fight on this issue, (H1 visas), even as I warn them against casting themselves as being smarter than the rest of us.  They have the edge intellectually, but they lack the numbers.  If they are to succeed over the long run, they will need the support of the populace - the very people that they claim are failing intellectually.  It is an interesting challenge.  I hope that they are smart enough to understand it.”

Today, I read in Axios that Musk wrote in X: “Take a big step back and F--K YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend,"  I humbly suggest that this is not the kind of approach that I was suggesting.  It is, in fact, another excellent example of how very smart people can be very stupid.  My guess is that Musk and Ramaswamy will prevail in the specific fight to preserve H1 visas, because America needs the talent, but it will rankle the populace sufficiently that it will tarnish DOGE to the disadvantage of the incoming Administration’s fight to improve government efficiency overall.

I will be fascinated to see how Trump deals with all of this.  Musk is acting very Trumpian in his approach to opposition.  My guess is that the President-elect does not really mind and will continue to permit Musk and Ramaswamy to take the lead in the fight to remake our government, because it permits him to play a less contentious role.  I doubt very much that the specific issue of H-1 visas will be impacted in any important way by this display of urinary prowess.
